CareChain recognised for wait-time innovation

The award recognises measurable reductions in specialty wait-times.

CareChain has been recognised for its work reducing specialty wait-times through allied-health-led triage, an approach the award judges noted for pairing a clear clinical model with published, measurable outcomes rather than projected ones.

The recognition cites the spine pathway's reduction in median time to assessment, from 27 weeks to four, and its redirection of 85 percent of referred patients to appropriate non-surgical care, as evidence that triage at the front of the pathway can move wait-times at a scale that adding specialist capacity alone has not.

CareChain noted that the result belongs as much to the allied health providers and the partner health centre who delivered the pathway as to the platform that supports it, and that the model's value lies in being reproducible in other regions.
